EDONT Trivia Night.
Dear friends and supporters of the EDONT,
The EDONT’s annual trivia night (okay, so our second ever trivia night) is on Thursday 5 November 2015 at the Railway Club. $25 at the door.
As we’re sure you’re aware by now, the EDONT lost all its government funding at the end of 2013, and relies on events like these to keep us going.
Despite the funding pressure, the EDONT goes from strength to strength, and has recently been involved in high profile matters such as:
successfully challenging the grant of water licences in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Environment Centre of the Northern Territory;
challenging the Northern Territory Government’s decision not to grant heritage status to Kulaluk, a site of immense cultural significance for the Larrakia people, on behalf of the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation;
acting for traditional owners in the Borroloola region in relation to environmental pollution by McArthur River Mine and Redbank Copper Mine; and
exposing the Northern Territory Government’s failure to require any environmental assessment or oversight of Port Melville in the Tiwi Islands.
To keep the EDONT working on important matters like these, please come along to our trivia night on Thursday 5 November, and tell your friends about it too.
